Liebster Nomination!

Well readers, I have passed two blogging milestones today.  I have just received my first Liebster nomination from Bally Girl at www.beyondbally.blogspot.co.uk (thank you!) and I now have 100 followers.  Thank you to you all too lovely readers!

Here are Bally Girl's 11 questions along with my answers:

MY QUESTIONS:
1.  If you could choose your own name what would it be? Something Italian like Sophia, Alexandria, Lucia or Livia.  If I was a guy I would want to be called Castiel because I am a huge Supernatural fan (as in the tv show)
2. Who's your favourite Disney villain? It has to be Charles Muntz from Up!  He is a meanie
3. Favourite quote?  From Ferris Bueller 'Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around once a while, you could miss it'.  Quite frothy, but very true.
4. Describe yourself in a single word.  Chatty
5. What's your most played song? I'm going to cheat, it's Everlong by The Foo Fighters and Carry on my Wayward Son by Kansas
6. Must haves for a pamper night in?  Face masks, scented candles, pedicure and manicure kit, wine or martini, dips, crudites, crisps (potato chips), some sort of cake and a good film
7.  Do you collect anything? Do shoes and bags count? : /  Seriously, I have a thing for vintage brooches at the moment
8.  If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go? Difficult, I have a long list, but right now, Sicily because I want to be in the sun
9.  What's your favourite name for a boy and a girl? William and Elizabeth
10.  What's your favourite TV series?  Again, difficult, but Supernatural.  It's not just the fast pace and the humour, but I love that it is essentially a story about two brothers.  Lots of in-jokes for people who love films and cult television too.
11.  Who's your idol?  I don't really idolise anyone, as I think celebrities are just normal people who act or sing for a living.  There are people I admire like Katie Piper, The Queen, The Bronte sisters, Angelina Jolie (for her humanitarian work), Audrey Hepburn....those kinds of people

11 Random Facts about Me:

1.  Red and green are my favourite colours
2.  My Mother wanted to spell my name Luisa the Italian way rather than the German and English way, but my Dad won that one!
3.  My first trip out of England was to Germany when I was six.  We went to Berlin and I remember it all so well.  It was wonderful and the travel bug bit me then.
4.  I can do a great impression of R2-D2.  That 'woooaaaahhhh!' noise.  Seriously.
5.  I love lipstick.  I wear it every day.  It brightens the face and is old school glamour.
6.  I have been told since I was a teenager by various strangers that I look like a young Elizabeth Taylor.  The weirdest being in Rome by a table full of Italians!
7.  I should have gone to work for Empire magazine.  I know so much about films of all genres and eras.  Hence my top ten film list is not composed of only 'chick flicks'.  A term I find a little insulting to more discerning film fans.
8.  I went to ballet classes until I was a teenager.  I passed all my exams with high grades, but my parents decided there wasn't time for ballet with high school.  I did go on to do some modern dance classes and I still love dancing today.
9.  I have a list of bands/singers I would love to see live.  I have seen some already.  Top of my list are The Foo Fighters.  Multi-talented and after watching them at T in the Park the other year on television, they put on a good show.
10.  My favourite chef is Michel Roux Jnr.  Great cook and charming to boot.  Certain chefs could take a few leaves out of his book.
11.  I would love to be fluent in not just Italian, but French and German too.

My 11 Questions:

1.  What would your last supper be?
2.  Who is your favourite fashion designer?
3.  What is your favourite book and why?
4.  Where was the best sunset you have ever seen?
5.  One gift that would make you successful:  Writing, Painting or Singing, which one?
6.  Who is your favourite actor and why?
7.  Most beautiful place you have ever been to?
8.  Which prime minister/president would you invite for supper? (dead or alive)
9.  One wish, what would it be?
10.  If you could have any job in the world, what would it be?
11.  Big house or a big garden, which would you prefer?

Congrats on the award! Like that you can do a great R2-D2 impression, haha!

This is mega geeky, but you should try to find the TV series A Story of Film. It was a documentary of the history of film in ten parts (I think), and it's wonderfully done. There's also a book, I have read/seen both and as a graduate in film studies, I wish it had been required reading.

Thanks Jess and A Mum. Hi Gladley, thanks for the tip. I'll try and track that down. How cool that you're doing film studies too.

First of all, congrats on the Liebster Award and your 100 followers. Good news all around. I just found you on Tidbits Of Experience Sunday Blog Hop page. When I saw that you have a holiday home in Abruzzo, I had to read. I've not been to Abruzzo, but I'm in love with Italy and like you, everything Italian. It's a bit difficult being in love when I live in Oregon, U.S.A. Huge bummer, huge expense to get to Italy. Although I've been three times and can't wait to return. Someday. Anyway, wanted to drop by and tell you that I loved what I've read so far.

Also wanted you to know that I'm hosting a Share Your Story Sunday on my FB page https://www.facebook.com/outoneear. If you have a favorite story (old or new--no difference to me since you will be new to my readers) please link it in the comments on my FB page. Would love to have you participate if you have time.

Looking forward to reading more from you.

Warm regards,
Linda Atwell - Out One Ear

That's crazy that you remember so much of your very first trip to Germany when you were so young! It must have made quite an impression on you to have such vivid memories of it even today. The travel bug bit me later in life, and as is the case with many, the more I travel the more I want to keep traveling!

Congrats on your award!

Hi Lisa. Yes, it was certainly some trip. I remember the Berlin wall, I remember the Brandenburg Gate and KaDaWe department store. I mostly remember how kind the German people we met were to my brothers and I, just like the Italians are to my boys. Thanks for reading and the congrats!

Nice post, very interesting and very useful. I work something like that, but I need a web page for my work. I asked a web design company ELCO PLANET (www.elcoplanet.com) to develope the page for me.. I was just interested for web hosting..I can see your blog , can you please advice me about web hosting provider.. have you ever heard for www.elcoplanet.com offering hosting, alpha reseller hosting... ? thanks a lot

LuluG said...

Hi Jean. Thanks for reading. If you look up blog hosts such as Wordpress and Blogger you can set a page up for free, but for anything else you need to google web design companies or individuals!
